The Beginning of the End…
Wit’s End Brewing was the crazy scheme dreamed up by founder Scott Witsoe (and tolerated by his super-cool wife Heather!). Scott moved from his hometown of Seattle to Heather’s hometown of Denver just at the turn of the millennium. After a difficult time acclimating to that strange glowing thing called the Sun, Scott was elated to see there was such a thriving craft beer community in Denver much like in Seattle. Not long after the move, Scott discovered home brewing through a friend, and fell madly in love with the process. Five years and a job lay-off later, he decided to take his shot and Wit's End Brewing Company was born... |
Timeline
2011
|
We opened for business on September 26th, 2011. We had 2 beers on tap (during GABF week no less) and could not have been more proud!

2012
|
The New York Times posted an article about the craft beer scene in Denver and we were fortunate to be featured in that article. Our first major press piece and this had an immediate impact on getting the word out about our little brewery and the business grew.

2013
|
Local magazine 5280 featured the current Denver breweries, with an extra page for Wit’s End. This resulted in a surge of awareness from thirsty locals and our business grew again.

2014
|
Jean-Claude Van Blond wins a Bronze World Beer Cup medal and a Great American Beer Festival gold medal for the category Belgian-Style Blond Ale, creating much attention and recognition of this beer, officially validating this as the world-class beer we always knew it was!

2015
|
After a lot of work, we expanded into our 7 BBL system. This allowed us to make much more beer and started distributing in a meaningful way for the first time to local draft accounts

2016
|
Our first out of state keg was sent out and we received a trademark on the Wit’s End name. We also bottled our first beer, Wilford, and sold to liquor stores for the first time in a very limited run (thanks Logan Liquors, Littles Liquors, and Small Batch Liquors)

2017
|
In an unprecedented move in Colorado, we moved in with our good friends at Strange Craft Beer Company creating Colorado's first Co-Taproom. Our beer are poured right next to Strange's beers as well as distributed through Strange. Also, in what we believe to be the first in the US, we moved our technical operations into a 36 square foot area hidden away in a corner like baby. The first cubicle-sized brewery, we will not be dropping a wall anytime soon to clean a fish.
